Hundreds Celebrate Tesoro Viejo Grand Opening
MADERA COUNTY, CA – Hundreds of community members and leaders came out Saturday, October 20 to celebrate the grand opening of Tesoro Viejo, the newest master-planned community in southeastern Madera County in Central California.
“Tesoro Viejo has finally arrived,” said Brent McCaffrey, president of Tesoro Viejo Development. “We are thrilled to unveil this new community on this stunning piece of land that connects neighbors to each other and nature.”
The celebration was kicked off with the flag salute led by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1981 and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Town Center, featuring Madera County Sherriff Jay Varney, Madera County Fire Chief Nancy Koerperich, Madera County Board of Supervisors, Fresno State cheerleaders and mascot Timeout, Valley Children’s Hospital mascot George, Madera Community College District mascot Maddie, Minarets High School drumline and cheerleaders, as well as business and community leaders.
“We are excited to finally introduce you to Tesoro Viejo – a community that has been in the works for us for more than a decade,” McCaffrey said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “And, you can also say it’s been in the works for Madera County for more than 25 years.”
Families and community members enjoyed the music by the Minarets High School Show Band, a train around the Town Center, face painting, balloon art, and food provided by Axis – the brand new coffee bar and eatery. The smell of kettle corn was in the air, as guests also enjoyed popsicles and mini donuts.
Guests at the grand opening had the opportunity to meet the inaugural homebuilders who provided the first look of the floor plans and renderings of the homes that will be offered at Tesoro Viejo.
Guests were also the first to see the new Madera County Fire Station No. 7 – “Lucky Number 7” and the Madera County Sheriff substation located right in the Town Center. The brand new fire engine was on hand, as guests toured the new 4,600-square foot building. The new fire station and sheriff substation will serve not only the residents of Tesoro Viejo, but also residents of southeastern Madera County.
“Tesoro Viejo is an excellent example of good planning and partnership,” said Madera County Supervisor Brett Frazier. “We commend the Tesoro Viejo Development team for their foresight and planning to ensure the necessary public services are in place from day one – they are funding this important public service that will benefit the residents of Tesoro Viejo, and also residents in southeastern Madera County.”
Located in the Town Center is “The Hub” – Tesoro Viejo’s innovative Welcome Center with approximately 7,800 square feet – that will feature Axis, a neighborhood coffee bar and eatery, plus multi-use offices. In addition, the event lawn will deliver an exceptional outdoor atmosphere for community entertainment and activities.
Eclectic and lively, Axis Coffee Bar and Eatery is now open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will offer fair-trade coffee sourced from around the world in a warm and welcoming environment. The seasonal food menu is thoughtfully sourced and utilizes organic and local produce and meats. The inviting space with rich colors and textures will inspire leisurely coffee dates with friends or a relaxing glass of wine or craft beer in the evenings. From classic cappuccinos and lattes to affogato and ice cream espresso blends made with local ice cream, there is something for all coffee lovers.
Approved for up to 5,190 homes in nine distinct, walkable villages; the community will be a vibrant hub with housing and business opportunities, a walkable town center, thriving industry, and neighborhood parks and schools. The community features three million square feet of non-residential space for commercial, retail, professional office, and light industrial opportunities.
The first village, Hillside Village, will offer up to 800 homes that provide diverse housing options to fit a wide range of lifestyles and needs. The first model homes in Hillside Village also celebrated its grand opening. Offered by McCaffrey Homes, the Altura collection starts in the low $300s and was planned with the active lifestyle in mind with modern conveniences, minimum maintenance, and maximum style and quality.
D.R. Horton and K. Hovnanian Homes will join the group of inaugural homebuilders in Hillside Village. D.R. Horton will build The Bluffs at Hillside Village, designed specifically for Tesoro Viejo offering unique one and two-story homes created with families in mind. They are the largest homebuilder in the United States with a philosophy spanning 40 years to create value every step of the way.
“The vision of providing not only a quality built, family-friendly home but truly an entire community experience is very exciting. Our entire team is looking forward to bringing our best to this project,” said Joey Gendron, Vice President of Sales for D.R. Horton.
“We are very fortunate to be part of this unique and exciting new community,” said Mike Wyatt, K. Hovnanian Homes Division President. “Our commitment to designing, building and delivering affordable, quality homes is what has enabled us to provide the dream of homeownership for over 50 years, and we will continue to do so at our Vista Bella neighborhood in beautiful Tesoro Viejo.”
Hillside Village will feature a resort-style clubhouse, an amphitheater, and neighborhood parks. In the heart of Hillside Village is Chawanakee Unified School District’s new Hillside School which opened for the 2018-19 school year and serves students from transitional kindergarten through 8th grade.
Recognized for its innovative design, Tesoro Viejo creates a truly walkable community where the extensive trail system leads to the Town Center – a place to connect with neighbors, family, and friends.
