Tesoro Viejo celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Camarena Health and Wellness Center June 2, which will bring a 13,000-square foot, state-of-the-art health and wellness facility right to the heart of Town Center. The new facility will launch a new concept for Camarena Health with a fitness center and space dedicated to group exercise.
“This is a very exciting project,” said Paulo Soares, Camarena Health CEO. “It is an honor for Camarena Health to be collaborating with Tesoro Viejo on this project.”
The Camarena Health and Wellness Center will be housed in a two-story facility that will offer medical, dental, and health education. In addition to health services, there will be a gym and flexible spaces for group workouts and classes like yoga.
“This new wellness center will include a fitness center on the first floor, and I can’t think of a better place to launch this new concept,” Soares said.
Madera County officials and community leaders joined the Tesoro Viejo and Camarena Health teams to officially break ground on the new facility. Camarena Health currently operates 20 sites in Madera County.
“It is so great to have these two organizations come together on this project – these people get it done,” said Madera County Supervisor Brett Frazier. “This is the perfect place for this wellness center because Tesoro Viejo attracts people for its wellness component.”
Supervisor Frazier quipped that Tesoro Viejo is like a “field of dreams,” as you watch people come up the trails through the vineyards.
“This new health and wellness center helps our vision for Tesoro Viejo come alive because healthy people create healthy communities,” said Brent McCaffrey, CEO of Tesoro Viejo. “We are proud to collaborate with a health industry leader like Camarena Health, as they understand the importance of preventative health and health education.”
Planned to open in 2022, the new facility anticipates hiring a medical provider, dentist, behavioral health clinician, clinical support staff, and health educators. The health educators will provide customized wellness plans focused on improved health and nutrition, as well as one-on-one counseling sessions, group sessions, and community workshops.
“We look forward to helping this community thrive through meeting the health and wellness needs of its residents and their families,” Soares said. “I believe this wellness center will have a lasting impact on the overall health of Madera County for years to come.”
McCaffrey thanked the Madera County Board of Supervisors for their vision and leadership when they adopted the Rio Mesa Area Plan decades ago that provided for planned growth that includes housing and economic development opportunities. He noted that the new health and wellness facility will bring more jobs to Madera County and fulfill the vision that Tesoro Viejo is a place where residents can live, work, and play.
“We dreamed that Tesoro Viejo would be a place where residents could live, work, and play – this new facility makes that dream come true,” McCaffrey said.
