Residents Live, Work, and Play at Tesoro Viejo - Meet Cristina Rendon

Cristina Rendon
Tesoro Viejo resident Cristina Rendon combines her love for her community with her work at Camarena Health.

At Tesoro Viejo, it’s the people who give the community its heart. Cristina Rendon is a proud Tesoro Viejo resident and a dedicated member of the Camarena Health team, where she serves as Director of Health Education and Wellness. Guided by her passion for preventive care and family education, Cristina brings empathy, purpose, and connection into everything she does. Inspired by her own early experiences navigating healthcare with her family, she now empowers others through education, advocacy, and support.

Her story reflects what makes Tesoro Viejo so special. A place where purpose extends beyond work, neighbors genuinely care for one another, and community truly feels like home.

Q: How long have you lived at Tesoro Viejo, and why did you choose this community?

A: I recently celebrated one month of living at Tesoro Viejo, and even in that short time, it has truly felt like home. I had spent years enjoying time in the community before officially moving here, so when making the difficult decision to move, it felt like a natural choice. I’ve always felt comfortable and safe here, and I’ve created meaningful memories with my son Charlie, through community events and everyday moments.

The idea of raising my son in a place where he can walk to school, grow up alongside his friends, and experience a close knit neighborhood is something I deeply value and have always hoped he could experience.

Q: Describe what it’s like to live, work, and play at Tesoro Viejo.

A: Living at Tesoro Viejo has brought a sense of balance and ease to our daily life. Being closer to work has made my routine more flexible and allows me to move more seamlessly between home, work, and community spaces. Outside of work, my son and I spend much more time outdoors, exploring parks, walking trails, and enjoying simple evening walks together.

Even when it’s dark outside, we’ll walk to Rosie’s Dog Park or the nearby swings. One of my favorite moments is hearing my son offer to lead the way because he already knows how to get there. It really shows how connected and comfortable he feels here.

Q: Choose one word to describe the vibe in your neighborhood.

A: Relaxing. From peaceful sunsets and star filled nights to friendly smiles and hellos from neighbors, there are so many moments that invite you to slow down and enjoy where you are.

Q: What’s your favorite amenity in the community, and why?

A: Cordon Park is our favorite amenity. It’s a place where we can spend time together outdoors. My son loves having space to play and explore, and I love that it’s a simple, relaxing spot for us to slow down and enjoy being together.

Q: If you had to describe the overall atmosphere of the community in just three words, what would they be?

A: Relaxing, welcoming, and beautiful.

Q: If you were giving a tour of the community amenities to someone who has never been here, what would be your must see stops?

A: I would start at Overlook Park to take in the view, then head to the Ranch House, and continue into the heart of the community. A stop for a delicious coffee at Axis is a must before ending the tour at the Camarena Health Wellness Center, which reflects the community’s focus on wellness and connection.

Q: What does your typical workday look like?

A: After getting my son ready for daycare, my day is a mix of planning, meetings, and connecting with our team and the community. I often move between sites supporting wellness focused activities and educational programs that help families build healthier routines. When I can, I like to end the day with a Vinyasa Flow Yoga or Pilates class at the Camarena Health Wellness Center.

Q: What are a few exciting things you plan to do this year?

A: This year, I am looking forward to continuing to settle into our home, creating new traditions, and becoming even more involved in community life. Excited to work on our yard, planting some fruit trees and starting a garden, creating a magical space for my son to explore and enjoy. I am also looking forward to spending more time outdoors together and growing both personally and professionally.

If you’d like to experience firsthand the Tesoro Viejo lifestyle, we encourage you to sign up for a guided community tour.
