Tesoro Viejo Fall Classic Half Marathon is Central Valley’s newest half marathon – to benefit land preservation and river access
MADERA, Calif. – Tesoro Viejo announced today that it will be the home to the Central Valley’s newest half marathon. The Tesoro Viejo Fall Classic Half Marathon will be held Sunday, October 6, 2019 and will also include a 10k and 5k run.
“We are excited about this inaugural half marathon,” said Mike Herman, director of California Classic Events that is hosting the event. “Participants will be taken to tranquil paths through some of the most beautiful scenery that rivals any run in California.”
Tesoro Viejo is Madera County’s newest master-planned community with 1,600-acres of rolling hills and vistas. The award-winning community includes nearly 200 acres of permanently preserved natural open spaces plus an additional 200 acres or more of neighborhood parks, recreational areas and miles of trails that will connect to the San Joaquin River.
“We are thrilled to host the first-ever Tesoro Viejo Fall Class Half Marathon and share the beauty of this community,” said Brent McCaffrey, president of Tesoro Viejo Development. “Health and wellness are the cornerstones of our community and are at the forefront of our design efforts.”
The Tesoro Viejo Fall Classic will benefit the Tesoro Viejo Conservancy, which is a non-profit organization that provides the needed funds to maintain and operate public access to lands adjacent to the San Joaquin River. The Tesoro Viejo Conservancy supports efforts to preserve land and wildlife, while educating the public about the region’s natural resources.
Tesoro Viejo is a breathtaking site with an abundance of distinctive topography in a unique and inspiring landscape. Designed to “lie lightly on the land,” the community features nine distinct villages, a town center, and a business park that are woven together with the natural surroundings and maximizes opportunities for residents and visitors to interact with nature.
With hundreds of acres of preserved natural open space, passive and recreational parks, and a vast network of planned hiking and biking trails, outdoor living experience extends beyond the backyard. Scenic vistas, corridors of riparian habitat and arroyos wind throughout the community, and serve as natural edges as residents traverse from village to village, and into the Town Center.
Model homes in Tesoro Viejo’s inaugural residential village, Hillside Village, are now open. The state-of-the-art welcome center, “The Hub”, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Visitors can view the amenities within Hillside Village, including the Ranch House – the resort-style clubhouse and recreation center – Harvest and Cordon parks, amphitheater, preserved open space, and trails.
Tesoro Viejo is located east of Highway 41 just north of River Park. For more information on the Tesoro Viejo Fall Classic Half Marathon or to sign up, visit https://runsignup.com/Race/CA/Madera/TesoroViejoFallClassic
